Dinner Ideas with Cabbage
We love cabbage. It doesn’t matter the dish: slow cooker meals, casseroles, soups, rolled up and stuffed with ground beef and rice – we love it all.
We grow cabbage in our garden, so when we’re picking a few heads everyday during Spring and Fall I’m always trying to come up with new recipes. Below is our top 20 cabbage recipes that my family loves (that means every recipe is eaten by our 3 kids!).
Come back periodically for our new cabbage recipes! Hope you find something good for dinner! 🙂
How to Store Cabbage
Cabbage is relatively inexpensive compared to many other vegetables, making it a cost-effective choice for families looking to stretch their food budgets. Here’s my tips on storing cabbage so it can stick around for a few weeks: Refrigeration: Cabbage should be stored in the refrigerator to keep it fresh for a longer period. Don’t Wash Beforehand: It’s best not to wash cabbage before storing it. Washing introduces moisture, which can lead to premature wilting and spoilage. Instead, wash the cabbage just before using it. Whole Cabbage Head: If you have a whole cabbage head, wrap it in plastic wrap or aluminum foil to help prevent moisture loss and maintain its crispness. Alternatively, you can place the cabbage in a plastic bag and seal it tightly before refrigerating. Cut Cabbage: If you’ve cut or used a portion of the cabbage, wrap the remaining portion tightly in plastic wrap or place it in a resealable plastic bag. You can also use airtight containers for storage. Unpeeled Leaves: If you only need a few leaves from the cabbage, remove them carefully without cutting into the core. This will help preserve the freshness of the remaining head.
