Easy Crockpot Barbecue Chicken
This easy recipe for pulled BBQ chicken is juicy, tender, and coated in a sweet, smoky sauce! Made in the crockpot, it’s perfect on buns, or as a tasty side with your favorite salad.
Once the chicken breasts are done cooking, you have the option to leave the chicken whole and serve next to your fav bbq loving sides (mac and cheese! potato chips! corn on the cob! you get it.), or you can shred the chicken up to serve on sandwich rolls (this is our go to favorite way!).
This recipe calls for 2-3 pounds of chicken breasts. We are a family of 5, so this makes enough for dinner + leftovers for the next day! When serving leftovers, we love it simply served over rice or for bbq chicken pizza!

How to Make Barbecue Chicken in the Slow Cooker
Place chicken breasts at the bottom of the slow cooker.
In a small bowl mix up the barbecue sauce, Italian salad dressing, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce and liquid smoke. A little note about BBQ sauce: it matters. Choose a BBQ sauce that you know tastes good and is a favorite, for us it’s either homemade BBQ sauce or Sweet Baby Ray’s.
Place sauce mixture on top of chicken in slow cooker.
Cook until chicken is fully cooked
Here’s where it’s your choice: serve the chicken breasts whole with your fav sides, or shred up for a chicken sandwich. I usually prefer to shred up the chicken and serve on buns, so I shred it up, add back to slow cooker and let it sit for an hour more to soak up the sauce.
Serve and enjoy these bbq chicken sandwiches. I love mine stacked with pickles, next to potato chips! It’s the perfect Summer meal!
