Make Your Own Italian Seasoning

Making your own Italian Seasoning is so easy. If you ever run out of it, just grab all the spices from your pantry and make your own spice blend! Or if you’re ever a gardener and grow your own herbs, then you need to start making your own Italian Seasoning! This recipe will make a little over 1/2 cup of Italian Seasoning. Feel free to double or triple it if you’d like! Simply add everything to a bowl, mix and store! What’s in Italian Seasoning?

You will need these spices to make homemade Italian Seasoning:

dried oregano dried basil dried parsley dried rosemary dried thyme garlic powder

Always make sure the individual herbs and spices you are using are fresh and haven’t expired.

Do you want a zing?

If you want to add some spice to your Italian Seasoning add 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes into the mix.

How to Make Italian Seasoning

Add all of the spices to a small mixing bow. Mix to fully combine all the spices together. Store in a spice jar and use as needed for all your favorite recipes!

How to Store

Store Italian Seasoning in an airtight container, such as a glass or plastic spice jar with lid. Label the container with the date so you can keep track of it’s freshness. We like these 3 ounce jars and 1 cup glass jars. Store in an cool, dark place like a pantry or spice cabinet. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and heat.

How long does it stay fresh for?

Italian Seasoning will last up to 2 years if stored properly.

How to Use Italian Seasoning

Meat Dishes: Use along with bread crumbs for Chicken Schnitzel, Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumpings and Italian Chicken Soup with Egg Noodles. Pasta: Add to ricotta cheese lasagna, Tri Color Pasta Salad and Italian Sausage Rigatoni. Gravies: Add to homemade gravy for more taste!
