Quick And Easy Pizza Sauce
This pizza sauce is so quick and easy to make! It’s Italian flavoring makes it a favorite of ours on homemade pizza tonight. We whip up our favorite bread machine pizza dough, cover it with this pizza sauce, followed by a thiiiiiick layer of mozzarella and we’re all yelling “it’s pizza night!!” This makes a 12 ounce jar of sauce, perfect for a large pizza! TIP: Love this sauce and want to make it your favorite from now on? Multiply all the dry ingredients by 8 (or change servings to 8 in recipe card to get these amounts easily). Keep the dry ingredients in a jar in your cabinet. When you want to make the sauce, you can measure out 2 teaspoons to add with the tomato sauce and water. Ingredients for Homemade Pizza Sauce
Tomato sauce, you need a 8 ounce can. Warm water, to mix with the tomato sauce. Parmesan cheese, this thickens up the sauce. Minced garlic, because every pizza needs a little garlic flavor! Honey, adds a tiny bit of sweetness to balance out the acidic flavor of the tomato sauce. You can always replace it with maple syrup or white sugar if you’d prefer. Some sugar in the sauce is important for balance, so don’t leave it out! Spices: onion powder, dried basil, salt, pepper and crushed red pepper flakes.
2 Steps to Make Homemade Pizza Sauce
Add all of the ingredients in a small bowl, mixing until the cheese is mixed well in. Spread the sauce right away on your pizza, or keep in the refrigerator until ready to use, within 5 days.
Storing and freezing pizza sauce
To store: The sauce will stay fresh in a sealed jar or container in the fridge for up to 5 days. To freeze: You can freeze the sauce in a freezer bag for up to 6 months. Defrost in the microwave and then heat up on the stovetop or microwave, stirring to thicken. Pin for later:
