Slow Cooker Green Beans With Bacon
This is one of my favorite slow cooker recipes to make when we’re picking green beans and digging up potatoes in the garden. The recipe uses fresh green beans, tomatoes and potatoes cooked in chicken broth.

Fresh green beans take 4 hours on low in the slow cooker. After this time you’ll have soft (but not mushy!), delicious green beans!
Do you have to soak green beans before cooking?
No, you don’t have to soak green beans prior to cooking. We’ll be putting raw green beans directly in the slow cooker in this recipe.
How to Make Green Beans in the Crockpot
Vegetable Prep. Chop up green beans, tomatoes, potatoes, onions and garlic. There’s no need to peel the potatoes so don’t worry about that! Cook a couple slices of bacon and then chop it into smaller bite size pieces. I usually cook the bacon in the microwave to make it quick. Throw everything into your slow cooker, and cook on low for 4 hours. That’s it, now it’s time to eat! Don’t you love how simple that was to make?
How should I serve green beans?
These Slow Cooker Green Bean can be served as a main course or side dish. For a main course, serve ever egg noodles or rice for a simple meal. They also make a fantastic side dish, especially for family holiday dinner! Serve alongside roasted chicken, oven roasted sausage, turkey or pork chops.
Can I make Vegetarian Green Beans?
You sure can, and it’s easy to do. Skip the bacon entirely, or use a vegetarian bacon crumble instead. Replace the chicken broth with vegetable broth. Just like that you have Slow Cooker Vegetarian Green Beans to serve!
